English Homework Week 7

Dear all,

This week, your homework should be completed after camp. You are to write a diary entry on one of the most memorable days there. It should be no longer than half a page, but include lots of wow words and great sentence openers.
For children who are not going, you should do the same, but refer to a day you were not at camp.

You should also learn your spellings for Monday, and continue practising your tenses.

English Homework Week 5 Term 3

Dear all,

For your homework this week we would like you to complete the sheet on tenses. You will need to read the sentence and then write the correct tense in the space. After you have finished, we would like you to write five sentences, one for each tense- present simple, present continuous, past simple, past continuous and present perfect (using a past participle). The sentences need to include a connective, an exciting adjective and an adverb.

Of course you will also need to learn your spellings for the test as normal next week.

English Homework Week 3 Term 3

Dear all,

Your homework this week is to continue learning the past regular and irregular verbs from the sheet or last weeks blog.

Tonight, you must also do a Big Talk - in preparation for a Big Write tomorrow.

The task will involve a character description. It can be a fictional character, human or creature. You must discuss what your character looks like (physical details): face, eyes, nose, ears, body...etc, but also its mannerisms, such as the way it walks and talks. You should also describe your character´s personality: shy, energetic, funny etc.
The Big Write tomorrow will NOT be a story, it should be a description only.

English Homework Week 9 Term 2

Dear all,

Exam week is approaching, and so we must start revising! Homework this week is to revise all the grammar we have done so far this year!

This includes:

Present tense - She rides the bike
Present tense continuous - She is riding the bike
Past tense - She laughed at the joke.
Past tense irregular - she rode the bike
Homophones: E.g. There, their and they´re, where, were and we´re
Making sure sentences make sense: E.g. wrong: She took me the pencil: correct: She took the pencil from me.
Apostrophes and apostrophes for possession.
Articles (an and a)
Common plural patterns: e.g. One family, three families
And of course all punctuation: full stops, question marks, capital letters etc.

You should have every homework stuck into your homework book, so it should be very easy to revise.

English Big Talk Homework for Big Write Week 7 Term 2A

Dear all, It is Big Write week again and you will be writing a poem.
To help you with ideas, below is a photo you should use as your setting.

The poem does not need to rhyme, and you can use any of the poetic techniques we have studied,e.g. similes, personification, onomatopoeia, alliteration etc.
You must create a poem, about the setting of the picture, and can add more detail to it.
Think about the temperature, is it cold? Fresh? What does it smell like? What can you hear.
The poem will be in present tense.

Do not write the poem for homework, just discuss with somebody words or phrases you could use, so you have lots of ideas. Big write will be tomorrow (Tuesday).

Test week is getting closer! Next week (week starting the 25th November) you will have a few English Tests: Reading Comprehension, Spelling, Writing and Grammar.

To help you prepare for these tests, you should revise from your homework book. Look at all the grammar exercises we have done.
